What is Verified Human

Verified Human is a basic KYC-style credential, issued after self-verification with a government-issued document, on top of your Proof of Uniqueness. Where PoU proves you’re a real, unique individual with a face scan, Verified Human ties that uniqueness to a government-issued document, giving services a higher tier of trust for cases that need document-verified identity.

Supported documents

NFC-enabled Passport

A biometric passport with an embedded NFC chip. The primary option, accepted worldwide.

Aadhaar Card

India-specific, verified via the official digital QR code.

Driving License

Accepted where an NFC-enabled passport isn’t available.

National ID Card

Accepted where an NFC-enabled passport isn’t available.

Claim your credential

The claim flow is the same for every document. Only the document you present differs:
1

Open the wallet

Open the Billions Wallet (on the web at wallet.billions.network or through the mobile app) and sign in.
2

Select the Verified Human credential

From the credentials dashboard, find Verified Human and select it to start the claim flow.
3

Choose your document

  • NFC-enabled passport: the primary document, accepted for any country.
  • Aadhaar QR flow: the primary document for India.
  • Driving license or national ID card: accepted when neither of the above is available.
4

Verify your document

For an NFC-enabled passport, driving license, or national ID, follow the prompts to scan the document. For Aadhaar, scan the official digital QR code.
5

Credential issued

Once verification succeeds, the credential is issued directly to your wallet, encrypted, and stored for reuse across every future request.

Troubleshooting

Passport & NFC

Look for the official biometric passport symbol (a small rectangle with a circle in the middle) on the front cover of your passport. Only passports with this symbol contain an NFC chip and are supported.
For the best results:
  • Use the latest version of the Billions app.
  • Remove any phone case, wallet sleeve, or passport cover.
  • Verify in a well-lit environment with a neutral background.
  • Hold your phone and passport completely still during the scan.
  • Disable Airplane Mode: it can interfere with NFC.
This means a previous scan hasn’t finished. Hold your phone completely still on the passport to allow it to complete. If it persists, wait a few moments before trying again.
Your phone has NFC, but it’s turned off. Go to your phone’s Settings → Connections → NFC and turn it on. Then restart the app and try again.
This means your phone does not have a built-in NFC chip. You’ll need to use a different device with NFC capability to complete verification.
Each passport can only be registered to one Billions account. This message means you’ve already verified with this passport. Log in with your original account instead.

Aadhaar (India)

Use only the official digital QR code downloaded directly from the mAadhaar app or the official UIDAI website. QR codes from physical Aadhaar cards or third-party apps such as DigiLocker are not supported.
For the best results:
  • Use the latest version of the Billions app.
  • Verify in a well-lit environment with a neutral background.
  • Make sure you’re scanning the correct Aadhaar QR code.
This happens when you scan an incorrect or unsupported QR code. Make sure you’re using the correct digital QR code, and that you start the process from within the Billions app’s verification flow rather than scanning the QR code directly.
This means the necessary verification files didn’t download correctly. Connect to a strong, stable internet connection and try reinstalling or updating the Billions app.
Each Aadhaar QR code can only be registered to one Billions account. This message means you’ve already verified with this Aadhaar. Log in with your original account instead.
